Policies
Teacher Commitments
To provide individual attention and tailor teaching strategies to the learning style of each student.
To communicate clearly about expectations, plans, and goals.
To provide 43 lessons per year and a minimum of 2 performance opportunities per year.
Student Expectations
Students are responsible for providing their own instrument and lesson materials. All materials (instrument, books, shoulder rest, etc.) must be brought to each lesson. Students missing proper materials will forfeit the lesson.
Students are expected to maintain short fingernails at all times. Attending a lesson with long nails will result in a forfeited lesson. After three forfeited lessons for this same reason, the student will be removed from the studio permanently.
All students are required to participate in a minimum of one recital per year.
Students are expected to practice daily; duration of practice time will be determined by the teacher.
Parental Involvement
Parents are welcome to observe the lessons and are encouraged to take notes.
Parents are expected to provide a supportive environment for the student, as well as to encourage daily practice at home.
For students under the age of 9, parents will be required to be present at the lesson, taking notes.
Payment
Tuition payment is due on the 1st of the month.
Payment methods include Zelle, Venmo, ApplePay, checks, or cash.
Tardiness and Cancellations
A specific lesson time will be assigned to each student upon registration. In the event of student tardiness, the lesson time will not be lengthened. The student may use the remaining lesson time.
With 24 hours of notice, a missed lesson will be made-up. If a student does not show up, or cancels the day of the lesson, regardless of the reason, that lesson will be forfeited.
In the event that the teacher cancels the lesson, a make-up lesson will be given.
Breakdown of Lessons
Students will receive 43 lessons per year. Per month, students will receive either four lessons (in February, April, May, June, August, September, and October) or three lessons (in January, March, July, November, and December). When a fifth week occurs in a month, that day will be used for any pending make-up lessons. In the event that a student is not owed a make-up lesson, they will have that week off.
Make-up lessons will only be scheduled when 24-hour notice is given, or if the teacher cancels the scheduled lesson.
Termination of Lessons
In the event that a student needs to discontinue lessons for any reason, or any period of time, written notice is required 30 days in advance.
Once the notice is received, the student will be billed for one final month (or at a pro-rated fee, if the notice is sent in the middle of the month). The student is welcome to attend those final lessons, but is not required to do so.
